saffron walden historical society publications

The Saffron Walden Historical Society is proud to publish a series of books by local authors under the imprint SWHS Publications, Series Editor Jacqueline Cooper. Each book covers topics relating to the town of Saffron Walden and its hinterland in North-west Essex. All the books are non profit-making, with author and editorial services freely provided, in order that new works of research can be put into the public domain. The income from each volume helps to pay for the publication of the next one, so that it is a self-perpetuating system, with book prices kept as low as possible. We are very grateful to the Marc Fitch Fund and to the UDC Community Fund for financial assistance in publishing Vol 4 in the series.
