Special Exhibition opening today-10 May 2025
This year, Saffron Walden Museum, celebrates its 190th birthday. Since opening on the 12th of May 1835, within a purpose-built facility, the museum has become one of the oldest of its kind in the country.
To commemorate this milestone, the Saffron Walden Museum invited our vibrant local community, community groups, academics, and experts to select their very own “Wonder” for the exhibition, “WONDERS: 190 YEARS OF THE SAFFRON WALDEN MUSEUM,”.
The museum will commemorate the launch of the exhibition with the remarkable revival of an 1836 printing press, once central to Harts Printers-whose legacy continues with Hart’s Yard & Hart’s Books. Visitors will see the press feature by bringing to life tote bags designed by winners of an art competition recently run by the museum.
