Borley Rectory – The most haunted house in England
Introduction
Following a visit from a professional ghost hunter in 1929, a national newspaper declared in a bold headline, ‘Borley Rectory, the most haunted house in England.’ This brought a great deal of disruption to the quiet little north Essex village. To discover why the rectory was considered haunted, Bryan will take us back to the 19th Century and tell us about two successive rectors, the latter one, together with his sisters, were rather obsessed with spiritualism and claimed to have seen the ghost of a nun on several occasions.

Further Information
Bryan’s presentations are rather unique. He is a great storyteller and in some of his pieces he introduces audiences to the voices of various characters. Indeed in others he plays the whole piece in character, giving a flavour of life in earlier times. A selection of his parts include a pearly King telling his evacuee’s story, a butler from the Victorian/Edwardian period and a dear old Suffolk gardener, complete with an authentic Suffolk accent.
